Arthur C. Clarke -Quote of the day

"There is hopeful symbolism in the fact that flags do not wave in a vacuum."
Arthur C. Clarke

I'm not quite sure what this means...probably something to do with space and humans messing up the earth with aggression and division. What do you think? Comment bellow!

  1. I believe this was a dig on the famous first moonwalk, where they planted a flag in the dust and it was waving around.

  2. I have no idea what the heck that's supposed to mean hahaha

  3. I think it's a comment on people being blind sheep.

Either that or a jab at the NASA moon landing.

  4. I would assume it's a reference to the fact that flags do not wave in a vacuum and humanity can't live in vacuum, the point being that where humanity can't go we can't make claims and force the ideals of the few down the throats of the many (or vice versa for some governments, but less than you'd think.)

But hey it's 2 in the morning so maybe I'm just being an edjit.

  5. I think it's saying in SPACE aka a vacuum, there are no flags or nationalism, we are just one human race, not divded by country.

  9. It think you've got to interpret 'vacuum' as a 'power vacuum'. In the absence of oppression, no government can rule.
